Anticipated for several years, The Ice Tower, directed by Lucile Hadžihalilović from a screenplay she co-wrote with Geoff Cox, has been selected in competition at Berlinale 2025.

This is an occasion to discover a first image with Marion Cotillard ( whom she reunites with 20 years after Innocence) but also to learn that Gaspar Noé will appear in the film! The two filmmakers founded their production company Les Cinémas de la Zone together in 1986.

Formerly known as The Snow Queen, the film received €36,000 in development aid in 2019 before receiving further aid in 2023 (advance on receipts and aid for digital visual effects).

Goodfellas will be in charge of the International Sales and its release date has not yet been announced.

Here's the plot:

Colder than ice, her kiss pierces the heart ... The 1970s. Jeanne, a young runaway, falls under the spell of Cristina, the enigmatic star of The Snow Queen, a film which is being shot in the studio where Jeanne has taken refuge.

For the record, Gaspar Noé was talking in the 2000s about making a children's film also inspired by Andersen's fairy tales... Perhaps his next film?

Gaspar Noé also had a small part in animated film lent his voice to the animated film Schirkoa, which was released earlier this month in France.
